I hear a heartbeat that isn't mine
It thrums through my head few beats at a time
It comes to knock through the hallows of my mind
Then leaves with warnings of others of its kind

Leaves until I've barely forgotten
its erractic pace
Then pounces on my memory
And awakens a dull pain
Thrumming, popping, demanding attention
To stop
And listen to it
Although it has nothing to say
That I havn't heard before

Here goes the heart drum
There comes the silence
Only until I've forgotten
And I need reminding
once again
